While my father, Leslie, served in the Army, he and his father, Ike, corresponded over the course of the 4 years. They would number their letters to know they all arrived in order. Leslie’s letters to Ike were found in a cardboard box in the storage space of his store in the mid-1970s; he had forgotten the letters had been saved. I transcribed all the letters which can be read below. Ike’s letters to Leslie are lost. Leslie’s original 300-plus letters are preserved in the Texas Jewish Historical Society Collection at the Briscoe Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
